Do you own a home based business? Do you often glance through your company's checkbook and look into your routine? You might wonder why you should do so. Well, doing this you will know whether you have enough work, what kind of work occupies your time and what are your earnings and expenditures.
Besides this, you will know your priorities. Priorities are the best measures of a company's success. How an entrepreneur sets his own and his business' priorities speak volumes about his success.
Getting back to going through a business's paper work, that is the check book register, the budget and other such things. Do you invest more into your business or more of your earnings go on to fund your own personal interests? Is your home based internet business more reliant on word-of-mouth publicity or do you aggressively advertise? Most importantly, did you start home based business as a part time hobby or is a full time occupation?
All this can tell much about your priorities for your business. It will show whether you spend a few hours or invest a substantial amount of time and effort into your business. You also need to check whether your business priorities have now shifted or changed since starting home based business, some months ago.
How you set your priorities will determine the success of your business venture.
Here, let me give you an example of a person who had high blood pressure. His doctor put him on medication and told him to exercise, eat healthy, control stress and give up smoking and drinking. He also needed to lose weight. The person did everything as the doctor told him to and much more. He returned to his doc a few months later and the doctor was happy to see his progress. The person's BP was normal and the doctor continued medication for some more time to be cautious. However, the person stuck to his changed lifestyle and continued to meet his doc for his checkups. Finally, the doctor took him off the medication. The person had made a permanent change in his way of living.
You might wonder why I am telling you all this. Well, I am again and again reiterating the importance of priorities, your will to change and reset them as and when required. When priorities need to be changed, don't dilly-dally and search for excuses, go for the change.
The importance of priority applies greatly to a business. If you operate you business on the basis of an inflexible priorities' principle and are unwilling to change as and when the situation so demands, be rest assured, you will quit your business in just a few months. In such a case you are like those people who lack the discipline to make a change, for the better.
You need determination to bring about a change. If you have that control and authority, you will go on to have a successful home based business. You will have the persistence and patience to wait for your business to expand and do well.
You will give your work time and show a willingness to change priorities as and when required. You will understand the importance of giving your part-tie business as much time and energy as your full time home based business. So, just like that person who battled with his high blood pressure and reprioritized life, go on and do the same- for your home based business.
